After returning from the Lion Canyon hike we visited what, to the eyes of the archaeologist, revealed itself as a surface site. Along with pottery sherds and rudimentary stone tools were what looked like rocks. The buildings had used a wattle and daub construction method. When the structures were burned down the intense heat vitrified the mud, turning it into rock-like objects. This piece contains the imprint of the branches onto which the mud had been pressed.
